boxes everywhere

Since I had to plug in my DSL modem this morning to look for e-mails from my realtor and check in on eBay auctions, I figured I’d post a quick update here. Currently, I’m sitting in my living room, laptop perched atop a full Manischewitz box, surrounded by cardboard. Upstairs in the bedroom, and downstairs in the [former] office are no different – we’ve left passageways about 18″ wide to get around the place, and other than that everything is, well, “boxed-in” so to speak!

Tomorrow the movers come bright and early, and we bring everything over to the new place. Dad also graciously lent his Tahoe for moving/storage purposes.

After today, my access to the Internet will be sporadic – browsing from the ambulance base, Kelly’s apartment or on my lunch break at work – so if I don’t reply right away to an e-mail you’ve sent, please don’t be offended!

If all goes well, my next post should be from our new office in the new house!

so it’s been about 2 weeks with no posts…

…so I figured tonight would be a good night for a life update.

On Sunday the 16th, I took Kelly down to Harriet Hollister Spencer park, we bundled up against the autumn chill, and we took a few minutes to enjoy the beautiful overlook above Honeoye Lake. At some point during that time (probably just before I thought our aversion to the cold air would outweigh our enjoyment of the view) I hit my knee and proposed to Kelly.

She said Yes. We’re planning on getting married somewhere around early July 2006.

Of course, this is just the beginning of the excitement. On the home front, I’ve been subjected to various sorts of craziness in attempting to move toward closing on our house. Between trying to get the mortgage commitment, trying to get insurance, attempting to arrange for pre-possession, finding a mover and getting all the money scooted to the correct places, the process has been anything but routine! And it’s resulted in extensive functionality testing of every fax machine within 1000-yards of any point in my daily routine.

All told, the process is going pretty well, despite my resultant new-home-buyer daze. With any luck, we’ll be moving soon…

relaxing

It’s amazing how relaxing it is to light a few candles, pop in a Bach CD and spend some time lounging around with the cat. After a busy week at work, during which every evening has so far been occupied, I decided that – at least for a few hours – this evening would be spent recharging.

Now that the dishes are washed, the cat box is cleaned and I’ve paid the week’s bills, it’s time to sit back and unwind for a while. I only anticipate one difficult decision for the rest of the night: choosing which bottle of wine to open…
