As I found while exploring the HP support forums, there are plenty of Mac users who are understandably upset that their printers aren't supported. The problem isn't HP, however - they haven't ever actually supported the 1020 under OS X. But until Snow Leopard, the drivers for the 1022 got the job done. Something broke, and that workaround no longer works-around, sadly leaving a lot of folks out in the cold. Indeed – nice catch!
